Last night I felt pretty overwhelmed with sewing ideas.  With soooo many things I’d love to sew, I just couldn’t decide what to make for this week!  Rather than sew, I put my mind to rest and enjoyed some of the second season of Rome.  Good stuff.

After work today I drove out to the recycling center with four months of items that I’d been stockpiling in the garage.  Now my garage is cleaner and I feel great about doing my part for the environment.  On the drive home I was feeling so good, in fact, that I came to a decision on what to sew: a skirt.  Not just any ol’ skirt, though.  A skirt made from a curtain panel that I recently purchased at the thrift store.  It’s my new favorite skirt!  Seriously.  I followed this tutorial to make it.

Altogether, this skirt cost me $2 and took one hour to complete from start to finish!!  Since the fabric was a bit thin, and I don’t own a slip, I took some time to create a lining.  The best part is that I used a leftover piece of the curtain panel to fashion the lining.  Now for the best part…pictures!

See, I really did make my skirt from a curtain!

Here is the cut piece of fabric (measuring 56 inches wide x 23 inches long), and my little helper’s feet

Tada!  The finished product on yours truly.

Yep, I’ll be making another skirt soon.  I have this nice cream with white polka dot sheet that’s just begging to be worn!
